 in response to Really...   Really,
Thanks for the comments, I went to Full Sail University, and will be there till 2012. It is a private school, meaning they do not help look for grants or scholarships. They do however, tell you where to go to file for FAFSA.
I know about student loans, I too, am dealing with that.
AND thanks for writing.
I had forgotten I joined here until I was notified of your post.
The computer I joined with crashed and this is my FSU school laptop.

Hi Sweetbarefoot,
I have empathy for you. I am currently enrolled in school for graphic design and I say the best time to do anything is now. Get yourself enrolled in Graphic Design if that is what you really want to do in life. Do what makes you happy and supports you at the same time. As for schools on design, there are a few out there to choose from, but in my mind only one school stands out and that is the Art Institute. So I went there. I am in my second year now and paying for it with student loans. I would love to find a grant myself, but don't know which site really helps instead of just finding you a school. There's the rub. Be wary when you enter a school that they get you every possible modality of help that is out there. Otherwise you may borrow the money like I am and will have to pay it all back.

Desperate need of help Please.

Hello,

I am posting this in regards to my current situation in which me and my wife are faceing.  I am 32 years old and on oxygen full time.  Me and my wife are in desperate need of houseing and used laptop that has wi-fi capabillities.  My current laptop has problems with the hard drive and I am limping it along for the moment.  As for houseing I have to have electricity for my oxygen and breathing treatements every 3 hours.  We have struggled since my health has gotten worse over the last year.  My wife is my sole means of support and help with things that I have a hard time with due to my breathing and heart condition.  We have appealed to agencies in our local area and have found no relief to our problems.  I am currently awaiting to go in front of a administrtative law judge for my dissability, but even with dissability there will not be enough money for us to survive.  I am trying to stay positive,  but the truth of the matter is.  I am ready to go home to be with the Lord,  The United States Goverment has done another fine Job of starving out an American family, while those from other countries get the blessing our Goverment has to offer.   I do not want a hand out, but only a hand up and a soulution for our problem that is getting increasingly worse. If anybody has any resources or ideas please e-mail at jmichaelallen77203@yahoo.com I would be willing to trade Graphic and web design work such as the picture posted here.

                                        Sincerly,

                                        J.Allen

More on Graphic Design

Hi Fellow searchers,

This is a good place to explain my desire for a degree in Graphic Design.  I will be 58 years old in less than a month and I have been on SSI disability since 2004, after I had a brain tumor removed.

Now I live on $674 a month. Needless to say I don't do much but watch TV and  'goof ' on the computer.  I have always had an interest in computers and have watched as they have shrunk and what they can do has grown,  the first computer I used was about four feet wide and seven feet long and used keypunch cards for programming. got my first programming degree in 1971 and I am 2 classes shy of my second degree BUT I preferr graphic design.

I decided, oh almost three monthes ago I cannot live on my SSI (I know I'm slow, but I did have a brain tumor). I cannot work outside the home, I am disabled, I am on the computer all the time.... (brain storm)  "why not get paid for 'goofing' on the computer?? " Get a degree, online. Start a business, online. At first just a suppliment to SSI and hopefully get off SSI eventually.

I think this is a good start. What do you think of my idea, am I living in a dream world or is my thought process logical??  Let me know.

I am writing because I am getting desperate and getting close to my deadline of Aug 3rd, Let me explain. I have spent two months on the Internet to find grants & scholarships for college.

I sit on my butt watching TV or goofing on the computer. Can't afford to go anywhere on my income, $674 a month. Can't work, have no balance and cannot walk without a cane or help.

Why not go to school online, get a baccalaureate in Graphic Design and start an online business making webpages or whatever clients want. This is where desperation comes in and where this letter comes in.         I NEED HELPFUL ADVICE.

I have a school, Full Sail University in Winter Park, Fl. Most graduates from this school work in the entertainment industry. It is more expensive but the tuition covers everything I will need, I will even have a little cash sent to me for scanner and printer that I will need for school and later. Unfortunately, it is a private school and they don't help a lot in my scholarships search, they just go for loans.

I do not want to graduate with beaucoup debt in school loans, I am not going to live forever and I don't want my daughter stuck with school loans, unless they are hers or for the kid's, not mine.

I AM A WHITE WOMAN, OVER FIFTY, DISABLED AND A NAVY BRAT & SPOUSE. (we separated in '77 but still married) I SHOULD QUALIFY FOR SOMETHING!

This is where you come in, people who've already been through this and know where to go. I have tried Florida, was told "most of our grants are for high school kids". Have searched for ALL those government grants we hear about, they are for teachers, medical students or organazations no individual grants. PLEASE, HELP!!!!

I have joined 3 of those deals to find grants but all I have done is waste money I don't have.

About sondra85

Hi,

My family and I are in a temporary need of help.  I am not looking for handouts, just a loan or if I can provide services as repayment.  I have over 20 years of experience in human resources, including resume expertise, graphic design, and accounting.  My husband was injured in a very bad car accident last year and has not been able to do the type of work he did before.  He is in school now and will start a new job on December 1.  I work and have been with my current job for almost 3 years.  However, since I have an illness as well, my income has not been enough.  We have tried to stay afloat, but have recently run into difficulties.  Our home is about to be foreclosed on in 3 weeks unless we come up with $2500.  We don't have any family or friends to borrow the money from.  We have 3 children and have no other place to go.  I am willing to provide any information needed to someone that is willing to help us.  Again, I am willing to pay the money back.  Please help us if you can in any way.  Thank you.

About PhoenixF1re

Hi everybody. I am a single mother to a beautiful son who is about to turn 12 in October. My story is sadly similar to so many that I have read. My thoughts go out to everyone out there caught up in this horrible RECESSION!!!

I worked very hard as a single mom to attain my degree, which I finally did in 2003. While in school, I worked 2 jobs.

I landed a great job where my son and I did great. I put him in catholic school and finally was able to get my own place after having lived in a shelter for almost a year.

Thanks to some bad investments within our company, my department downsized and I was laid off. Back to the struggle again. In all honesty, I just need help with this month's rent and one month of tuition for my son (Grand Total of $5,000..NY Rents suck..), who is a straight A student. I applied for all benefits available (still waiting on the food stamp card, not a lot of food in the house and my Unemployment disqualified me for Emergency funds) for my son and I. I have several interviews lined up and my resume is impressive, but the job market is horrible. I have also registered at many temp agencies in the city.

If anyone out there, knows of any other resources or places I can go to, trust me I will scrap the money for a Metrocard and go. I just need to know that we have the roof over our head and my son can go to school for the month of September. Thanks again and I wish all of you luck.

VectorTechs

About VectorTechs

The company that I had work for for six years, as a graphic designer, had just went out of business last year after 36 years. I was thinking this is the time to start my own business, and go freelance. But after struggling for 8 months, without a budget to work with. And now my wife is talking about taking my two boys and leaving.

The problem is that I'm two months behind in rent "with a 5 day notice" and just barley making the utility bills. I just found Aidpage thought that someone might be able help with my new business start-up. What I would be interested in finding a grant, investor, clients and maybe a partner. What I need to get off the ground is $8,000 to cover rent, utilities, equipment and some off-line marketing.

If investors are interested: I've just finished my new website called VectorTechs.com. VectorTech Studios has been designed to be an online graphics department for small and large businesses.

Being a graphics department VectorTechs.com is supplying.

Products and Services

  • Logo Design
  • Identity Packages (business cards, signs and vehicle graphics)
  • Custom Illustrations
  • Dynamic Websites Design with Joomla! CMS

Also, if your interested in a logo, illustration or a website. Please contact me at VectorTechs.com

Okay, I'm not going to get really into my background because it really doesn't matter.  I'm not a dummie.  I'm not lazy.  But I do need help.  I've had the unfortunate experience of getting hurt in two different auto accidents.  My insurance cut me off from medical coverage relating to those accidents within 3 months of each.  Of course they pay their doctors to say that I'm fine "you're young... don't worry about it" is what I kept hearing.  Screw that!  It's been 2 years since the 1st accident and 1 year since the 2nd... and I'm still seeing a chiropractor once a week!!  I DO have regular health insurance, but had to eat through the $500 deductible for the out of network doctor.  And have them cover acupuncture?? HA!  And that's just the specialists I've been seeing since August 2006... I've seen neurologists, chiropractors, been to physical therapy (several), regular doctor, had x-rays, MRI's, cat-scans, etc...  What am I left with?  A messed up knee and lower back problems from 2 compressed discs on my lower spine.

My point is, that it all adds up.  BUT I'm not looking for charity.  While I'd love to sue both of those rat-bastard drivers who hit me and make them/their insurance companies pay me back for all the doctor visits and stuff, what I'm really looking for is a 2nd job for additional income.  I'm not here asking for free money or anything like that.  I'm essentially an able bodied person who's looking for a partime/freelance job to make extra money - that I can save... so I don't ever have to ask for money or get really into debt.

I'm a professional (and talented) graphic designer looking for freelance work.  I DO have a regular full-time job though, so any additional jobs I get would be done at nights and on weekends.

I used to babysit all through highschool and college... I'd love to do some more babysitting as I'm great with kids.

Heck I'm up for just about any job... I love to keep busy and don't want to feel like a schmuck charity case.

I'm 29 and in my last year as a student attending the Art Institute. It's been a rough year, I started the year off great until this spring when I received a surprise in the mail from the school. Apparently, AI Pittsburgh wouldn't release some funds and therefore made my tuition skyrocket at the end of the quarter leaving me to have to pay over $1600! I was told by AI Pittsburgh that those funds had been released as I was no longer attending their school and having transferred to AI Atlanta. The long story short, I've been screwed out of my education. I've been working and working here in Atlanta and haven't been able to attend school, during the summer break--which I took to allow me to find other sources--which I still haven't--to pay for college it turns out they also decided to tell Salle Mae that I wasn't enrolled--well guess what, I never withdrew and they are going to get the sharp end of my sword--legally!

Tell me about your horror stories with the Financial Aid office! I'd like to hear from you!

Thanks!

starting a small printing business

I am a stay at home mom right now, and am looking at starting a graphic design/print shop.  Are there grants available to me so that I can do this without putting my family finances in total jeopardy?
